CAROLINA SERPA is a high school and college graduate of the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. In NYC she worked with the Urban Bush Women dance company under Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, touring nationally and internationally. She is a founding member of SCD. She lives in Tampa where she teaches with VSA Fl. And Crunch Fitness. She has been teaching modern, jazz, Cuban based dance forms and movement classes, for people of all abilities, for years in schools, dance festivals and colleges. New Vessels with Living Water is a dance ministry project that she directs with her husband Carlos and joined by their children Kateri and Braulio.She works to encourage and motivate others through her work as a movement artist.
In this high energy class we will learn and create movement based on the great Mambo movement of the 1950's. We will use original mambo music like that of Perez Prado.
The Cuban Rumba is a predecessor of the modern day and internationally acclaimed, salsa. We will learn traditional movements while creating new movements based on the slow Yambú rhythms and the uptempo and athletic Guaguanco.
